3.14 : classic fuzz with a twist
A high quality update of the classic '70s fuzz sound, with low noise, consistent
sound, and options to make it a much more flexible addition to a pedalboard.
The CLIP switch chooses between symmetrical silicon clipping (the classic
sound) and asymmetrical silicon/germanium clipping (getting softer, smoother
sounds approaching a Fuzz Face).
The VOICE switch chooses between the coveted "triangle" tone stack (scooped
mids, bright) and a more modern tone stack with flatter mids and more bass
(but still plenty of treble on tap).
These options better allow the 3.14 to work with various guitars and amps,
and provide lots of new tricks for this old dog.
CLIPS
Here are five clips done by Chris Nix, using a Suhr guitar into a clean
Blankenship Variplex, with a bit of Univibe here and there and on one clip
a Landgraff joins in the fun to show how the 3.14 pairs up with the classic
Tubescreamer sound. One most of these clips, you will first hear the Suhr
played into the clean Variplex with no pedals engaged, for an honest evaluation
of what comes from the 3.14.

And here is a basic clip I did showing the different sounds available just with the two switches (all three knobs set at noon here). Chain : Strat on the bridge pickup > 3.14 > PODxt Pro using a clean Fender model, recorded direct.
Note: this design was inspired by the work of Jack Orman, so I'm not presenting this as my original design. However, I have incorporated several changes and produced my own PCBs, following the same principles used in the Triad and my other products. So this is not a "kit" I put together, but still I want to thank and credit Jack for his work.
